Sensor Lighting

There are a number of different types of sensors available for light activation.  A Passive Infrared Sensor or a ‘PIR’ is an electronic sensor that measures infrared light from objects in its field of view.  PIR monitors detect the movement of people, animals and other objects. These sensors are most commonly used in security lighting.

Photocell sensors, also commonly known as a ‘dusk til dawn’ sensors detect the presence of light. These sensors activate the light when darkness is detected meaning that you don’t need to remember to turn your lights on when it gets dark. As soon as it starts to become dark outside the lights will automatically activate themselves.

Microwave Sensors work by emitting a high-frequency electro-magnetic waves and receiving their echo to detect motion. If the sensor detects an echo from the slightest movement the sensor will trigger the light to switch on.
