Joy of Home_Joyr on Instagram's home is the stuff of Christmas dreams. The renovated office outside with it's wooden exterior sets the perfect tone for a nordic inspired Christmas. This, teamed with a beautifully renovated garden featuring a firepit and various seating areas makes the perface garden for entertaining. Scattered all around the living room are Joy's own personalised baubles and Christmas decorations that she designs and makes, you can shop them here.
A self confessed lover of Christmas, Joy gave us some top tips on how to style our Chistmas tree so they could look as perfect as hers. She recommends arranging your baubles in diagonal lines, alternating between different styles and designs. We just love how Joy has styled our Festoon Lights, intertwining them with an old Christmas tree and displayed above the cupboards is a perfect way to bring Christmas into the kitchen.
Joy's bedroom is the perfect blend of elegant and modern. The Chesterfield head board and mirrored bedside tables create a beautiful chic look. While Joy's pendant bedside lights create the perfect contemporary look.
Describe your home in one sentence.
Cosy, rustic and a family home.
When did you move in and what changes have you made since?
We moved in 2002, and we have changed pretty much everything, walls, doorways, extended at the back, and changed the fireplace so that we could have the log burner.
What inspires you?
I’m a huge fan of Kelly Hoppen, I love her style and home decor range. I also love a country feel to a house, a rustic cottage would be my ideal home with the latch doors and oak beams.
Your favourite room…
It would have to be the lounge, there's nothing nicer than sitting in front of the log burner on a cold winter night.
What was the first homeware piece you bought?
The first thing that I bought for our home was wooden coat hangers, very random hahaha. Secondly, I bought some gorgeous wine glasses that I still have to this day.
Describe Christmas in your house
I am a huge fan of Christmas. I love it!
I’m obsessed with lights all around the house, so any excuse to add more lights is a plus in my book. I’m always one of the first people to get the decorations out and love making the house feel even more cosy ready for the big day. It’s always chaos Christmas morning, but I always look forward to Christmas night with a nice film snuggled up on the sofa.
What Christmas decorating traditions do you have?
I must have some Christmas music on while I’m decorating the tree. I normally have one day to do the tree and then follow with the rest of the house decorations the following day. Stockings are a must by the fire, they take pride of place every year and this a tradition I always stick to. And I always have my little hot chocolate station with gingerbread men and marshmallows in the kitchen, I think it’s the little things that make a difference to making a house feel more Christmassy.
