(95)

We’ve got a wide range of flush and semi flush ceiling lights, boasting all the elegance of a typical chandelier light without the drop. Flush ceiling lights have great benefits and can transform any room no matter the size. Designed to fit snug to your ceiling to make the most of the space in any room, they're one way of making your room feel extra spacious. Flush ceiling lights are perfect if you’re working with smaller rooms like spare bedrooms with limited space and big potential. Flush ceiling lights for hallways are also a particularly good choice to make the hallway cosy and inviting if it's limited on space! Flush bathroom ceiling lights are also a popular choice, as bathroom ceiling lights often need to be more tucked back and IP44 or IP65 rated for safety. Whichever home space you're trying to illuminate in a functional and understated way, it's hard to go wrong with flush or semi flush ceiling lights.

What is the difference between a flush ceiling light and a semi-flush ceiling light?

Great question and one that could save you from a very awkward bump on the head. A flush ceiling light sits completely flat against the ceiling with no gap between the fitting and the surface, making it perfect for rooms where headroom is tight (we're looking at you, Victorian terraces). A semi-flush fitting drops down slightly, usually around 15 to 30cm, giving you a bit more visual drama while still staying relatively low-key. Think of it as the ceiling light that made a little effort but didn't go full chandelier. Both are brilliant practical choices, but if you want something with a touch more personality without committing to a full pendant, semi-flush is your friend.

What rooms are flush ceiling lights best suited to?

Honestly? Almost anywhere. But they really shine (pun very much intended) in hallways, landings, bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchens, anywhere ceiling height might be a limiting factor. They're practical, fuss-free and play nicely with almost any décor style. For a bit more atmosphere, try pairing a flush ceiling light with some wall lights or table lamps. It adds warmth and depth to a room, so it feels like a home rather than a waiting room.

How do I choose the right size flush ceiling light for a room?

There's actually a handy rule of thumb here. Add the length and width of your room together in feet and use that number as a rough guide for the diameter of your fitting in inches. So, a 10 x 12ft room? You're looking at around a 22-inch fitting. Got a bigger space? Rather than going supersized with one giant fitting, a couple of smaller ones spread evenly across the ceiling will look better and light the room more evenly. Nobody wants a spotlight effect in their living room, unless you're doing a one-person show, in which case, respect.

Do your flush ceiling lights have push fit terminals?

Yes! All of our flush ceiling lights come with push fit terminals as standard. They make installation quicker and easier than old-school screw terminal fittings, so your electrician will be in and out faster, freeing you up to get on with the important business of enjoying your new light and picking your next Netflix binge.

Are flush ceiling lights energy efficient?

All of our flush ceiling lights are compatible with LED bulbs, which are the most energy-efficient option going and genuinely great for keeping your electricity bills from spiralling. Several styles in our range even come with LED bulbs included, so you can get straight to the good part (flicking the switch and admiring your handiwork). Can flush ceiling lights be used in bathrooms?

Yes, but before you go ahead, you'll want to check the IP rating of your chosen fitting. Bathrooms are split into zones based on how close they are to water, and each zone has a minimum IP rating requirement to keep things safe. Directly above a bath or shower you'll need at least IP65, while fittings further from the splash zone need a minimum of IP44. If in doubt, check the product spec or drop us a message. We're always happy to point you in the right direction so your bathroom looks gorgeous and nobody gets a nasty shock (literally).
