How do I choose the right size picture wall light?

Size matters. As a rule of thumb, the width of the light should be around 50-75 % of the width of the artwork or group of pictures. Also consider how much light coverage you want and how high your ceiling is.

Where should I install a picture wall light and how high above the artwork?

Generally install the light centrally above the artwork and about 150-175 mm (6-7 in) above the top of the frame for smaller pieces. Ensure the angle is correct so the light covers the artwork evenly and avoids glare.

What kind of bulb or light source should I use for picture wall lights?

LED bulbs are the best choice, they emit very little heat and almost no UV, protecting the artwork and saving energy. Also aim for a warm colour temperature (around 2700-3000 K) and a high colour rendering index (CRI) to ensure colours in the artwork look natural.

Can picture wall lights be battery-operated?

We offer both hard-wired and rechargeable picture wall lights, so you can pick what works best for your space. Hard-wired options give a seamless, permanent finish, while rechargeable lights are perfect if you don't want to hire an electrician. They're easy to install, renter and student friendly, and ideal for quick style updates without drilling or wiring.

How do I maintain picture wall lights and protect the artwork?

Keep the light on only when needed (not 24/7) to avoid potential light damage or fading. Regularly check for dust or buildup which can reduce the light's effectiveness or cast unwanted shadows. Also ensure any wiring or fixings remain safe and visually tidy.
