Bionic Luxury: Award-Winning Interior Design with Mustard Yellow and Blush Pink Accent

Shades of Blush Pink

You can't go to any self respecting home decor retailer without seeing home accessories in blush pink, also affectionately known as millennial pink.

Chunky knit blankets, pink lamp shades, accent chairs, candles, you name it and it's been pinked.

So if you've been seeing blush pink pop up all around you and you're finally ready to incorporate a bit of it into your home to soften things up, well, lighting is a great way to do it. If you've already got a solid colour scheme and you're not ready to commit to redoing it completely, you don't have to!

Blush pink is so soft and pale a shade that it's practically a neutral, you can add a few dollops to pretty much any colour scheme for a little pop.

Convinced? Let's look at some of the best ways to incorporate this shade into your home through some popular interior design lighting styles and trends.

Copper or Chrome?

Copper and chrome have a rawness and shine to them that's a gateway to the industrial feel, pairing that with the softness of a blush pink creates this gorgeous contrast that will pack a punch of pretty in pink in any space.

Whilst copper is a gateway to the more industrial feel, it's also a really glamorous choice. Or, if you're more of a chrome fan it's an easy way to bring in a bit of a retro feel with links back to the mid-century.

Grey Days with a Pop of Pink

The perfect complimentary shade to a nice blush pink. Every colour needs a neutral to pair with. The warmth of the pink makes the grey feel a little less cold and drab, if you're working with grey walls or sofas try swapping out your curtains for a blush pink shade and implement a few pink lighting options throughout the room.

If you're thinking pink curtains might be a bit too bold for your space, or you're just too attached to the grey, try bringing in some other blush pink soft furnishings to keep your new lampshades company.

Pink lamp shades are a great starting point, they're a non commital option and you can place them wherever you feel like the room could use that little bit of variety.

Pink Power

If you're the kind of person who's ready to go all pink, all over then a blush pink feature wall might be exactly the way to make this statement.

Tiling is a great way to bring in pink and works in both kitchens and bathrooms. In a bathroom you can achieve that 1920s/ mid-century feel with some pink tiling or pink fittings. In the kitchen a pink backsplash could be just the way to fully show that commitment to the pink!

Whereas in living rooms or bedrooms the best alternative would be to paint a feature wall or bring in some millennial pink wallpaper for the space. From geometric to floral, a big pattern makes a big statement and is a real step in the right direction to the pink way of life. And, ofcourse, a pink lampshade would feel right at home.

Okay, What About a Few Accents?

If you're starting your space from scratch or you're looking to do a big refresh of the space and you're not totally sold on pink as the cornerstone of your colour scheme (or if you have some anti-pink people you're having to negotiate with) then using pink as a secondary colour in your scheme might be the perfect compromise.

Consider a teal or navy feature wall to be the main colour in the space and bring in bits of blush in lighting, nick-nacks and soft furnishings.

You don't need to reupholster your sofa to get tickled pink! A good floor lamp will do that, and if you've got some pink non-believers in your home then you can always opt for a paler shade and just tell them it's a neutral!

Bringing a little bit of blush into your home will soften up the environment and add that sweet and comforting feel. Whether you're committing to it from wall to wall or you're sprinkling in a few little pieces, it's definitely going to be that feminine touch your space is begging for.
